Our Vision

WENDOVER Theatre Society is a vibrant, friendly amateur dramatic theatrical company with a very professional attitude towards all productions.

Members are committed to providing a variety of well produced, value for money, entertaining shows for the whole community throughout the year.

History of Our Club

Wendover Theatre Society, founded by Avril Wilkinson in the mid 1970's, ran very successfully for 20 years, gaining a coveted award from the National Operatic & Dramatic Society.

Affiliated to the John Colet School in Wendover rehearsals often took place in the lecture theatre.  Performances took place at many local venues but the curtain came down on the society in 1995 when the cost of hiring halls was no longer viable.

An eight year break was brought to an end in 2003 when former WTS member Carol Blake fought to reinstate amateur theatre in Wendover.

The relaunched WTS

Carol, who had also been a member of Halton Amateur Theatrical Society, had an ambition to provide more drama in Wendover and successfully applied for a grant from the Wendover Community Trust.

After gathering together a team of local actors, plus willing backstage helpers, and the experienced direction of Diana Sear (a member of the National Operatic Dramatic Association), the group was ready to peform the first production, an hilarious farce by Ray Cooney, Run For Your Wife.

Two performances took place at the Wendover Memorial Hall, to great acclaim.  As a result membership of the group grew, support grew, and the productions have flourished ever since.

When the Memorial Hall was fully refurbished during 2005 the results presented the group with superb premises for all future productions.
